“Why I Haven’t Been To Church Lately” Because Jesus Moved Differently!

Last night, my daughters asked me why I haven’t been to church. And if I’m honest, the question lingered in my spirit long after the conversation ended. It’s not because I don’t love God. It’s not because I’m lost. It’s not even because I don’t miss the fellowship.
But the more I read my Bible, the more I study the footsteps of Jesus, I realize—He was out among the people. He was the Word made flesh, not just in a temple or on a pulpit, but walking, healing, listening, being present. Jesus moved. He didn’t wait for people to come to Him—He went to them.
And lately, I feel the Spirit inviting me to live more like that. Not in rebellion, not in resistance, but in realignment. I’m learning that sometimes obedience looks like sitting still until He says move, and other times, it looks like being the church beyond the building.
Jesus said in John 5:19, “The Son can do nothing by himself; he can do only what he sees his Father doing.” Right now, I don’t see the Father calling me to a pew—I see Him calling me to a posture. A posture of listening. Of presence. Of purpose.
So if you’re in a season where you’re being still, don’t mistake it for stagnation. You may just be on assignment.
Prayer:
Lord, thank You for reminding me that following You doesn’t always look like tradition. Help me walk like Jesus—led by Your Spirit, not pressured by expectations. Teach me how to be the church in every room I enter. And when it’s time to move, I trust You’ll show me how. Amen.
