Did the Devil Really Steal It?

We’ve all heard the phrase, “The devil stole my joy.” But pause for a moment and really think about it—did he steal it, or did you hand it over while waiting for God to move your way?
Sometimes we confuse joy with circumstances. We think joy comes when bills are paid, doors open, or prayers are answered in the exact way we imagined. But true joy doesn’t come from outcomes—it comes from the Lord.
Scripture reminds us in John 16:22: “No one will take away your joy.” That means joy is not something the enemy has the authority to snatch. If it’s gone, it’s because we allowed worry, disappointment, or impatience to replace it.
The truth is, joy is a fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22). It’s not dependent on “your way” but on God’s way. When we learn to rejoice in Him and not in outcomes, we’ll find that joy remains unshaken, no matter the storm.
So today, ask yourself: Am I giving the devil temporary custody of my joy while I wait for God to say yes? If so, take it back. Reclaim it. Your joy is secured in Christ—don’t let anyone, especially the enemy, hold it hostage.
🙏🏽 Prayer:
Father, forgive me for the moments I’ve let impatience and disappointment rob me of my joy. Today, I choose to reclaim the joy that You gave me. Strengthen my faith to trust Your timing and Your plan, knowing that Your way is better than mine. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
